Affiliate Disclosure

BrandVault participates in affiliate programmes. This page explains what that means, in full.
What an affiliate link is
Some links on this site – including the buttons on coupon and brand pages – are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase or sign up with the brand, the brand may pay us a commission. The commission is paid by the brand from its marketing budget. The price you pay is the same whether or not you use our link.
Which links
Links to brands’ websites from brand pages, coupon pages and articles may be affiliate links. We mark them in the page code with rel="sponsored". Links to other articles on this site, to public bodies or to non-commercial sources are not affiliate links.
How it affects our content
It does not affect what we write. Our editorial policy sets out the separation between editorial and commercial work: editors do not know commission rates when writing, rankings are never ordered by payout, and we cover brands without affiliate programmes when they are relevant. When a non-affiliate option is better for you, we say so.
Which programmes
We work with a range of affiliate networks and direct brand programmes. The list changes; a current summary is available on request via the contact page.
Why we do it
Affiliate commissions fund the testing, the price tracking and the people who do the work. We prefer this model to display advertising because it keeps the site faster and cleaner, and to paywalls because we want the research to be freely available.
Questions
If anything about our commercial relationships is unclear, ask us. We would rather over-explain than have you wonder.
